Drop-In Service for Professionals

We are introducing the drop-in appointments as a way of supporting the influx of enquiries we have seen as our service has grown over the past 2 years. Each Thursday morning, professionals can book a 45-minute slot with one of our Project Coordinators.

Once you have booked your 45-minute slot, you will receive a confirmation email with a Microsoft Teams link. Alternatively, you can request a phone call.

For example;

You are a social worker allocated to a case, and there has been a disclosure of sexual abuse. You are unsure whether Beacon is the right service.

You book a 45-minute slot with one of our Project Coordinators and we discuss what we offer, and the young person’s needs and decide that Beacon can offer consultation you as a the professional, and that the young person would be eligible for a service with a CHISVA as there is an ongoing court case.

Our drop-in service is also great for professionals who have previously had support from us and would like to check-in and ask questions or check their understanding on something.

For example:

You are the designated safeguarding lead for a primary school, and previously received 5 weeks of consultation around a young person in your school who has experienced sexual abuse.

The young person is beginning to display behaviours which concern you and rather than making a new enquiry, you’d like to just check in with one of the Beacon team to ensure that you’re doing the right things.

You book a 45-minute slot, and we discuss some of the therapeutic techniques you implemented whilst having consultation sessions. Everyone is satisfied that all professionals are doing the right things and recognise that trauma has lasting impacts and sometimes behaviours come and go because of this. The Beacon Project Coordinator also gives you a breathing technique you could use to support the young person, this can also be found on our website.

The drop-in service is not an emergency drop-in, and any safeguarding concerns should be handled following your own organisation’s policies and procedures.
